Do I need a one card to take out a book?

I'm in a summer course, so I didn't bother getting a one card since I'm almost never on campus and don't need to use it. But now I need to get books for an assignment.

If you are a Chang School student or LIFE Institute member, you can get a free library card at the Circulation Desk in the Library by showing a paid fee statement, letter of acceptance or LIFE membership card. You can also choose to purchase a One Card for $20, and activate it for use as your library card. Library cards must be re-validated each term that you are enrolled in a course.
