I tried to renew a book, and the system tells me I can't, because there is a hold on it. What does this mean?

Answer

This means that another patron has requested the item, and you need to return the item by the due date. Placing a hold on an item prevents the person with the item from renewing it to allow others to borrow the item as soon as possible. For more information, check out our website here.
