To request that an item be held for you when it is returned, use the library catalogue and follow the instructions below.

  1. Search for the title in our catalogue
  2. When you have the catalogue record for that title on the screen, click the Place Hold button.
  3. Sign in using:
    • your my.ryerson username and password or
    • first or last name
    • library card barcode number (all the digits, no spaces)
  4. Click on the Submit button
  5. The message “Your request has been sent to the Library” should appear on the screen

  1. How come reserving a book does not work with the my.ryerson account?

Does anyone else have this issue? I have never been able to reserve a book using my.ryerson login credentials

  2. Hi Adam - this is a known issue with some of our users when we do not have the correct barcode number linked to their account.

This typically happens if they have had more than one OneCard and for whichever reason, it does not update to the most current one in our system.

To fix this, we need your my.ryerson username and current barcode number. Please email this information to staff in Library Information and Technology Services at, so they can correct the problem at their end.

Thanks, and let me know if you have any other questions.
