How can I appeal a fine?

A book was recalled (Losing the signal) however I did not notice I received an email, my receipt said it was due on Oct 6 2015, which is when I rightfully returned the book. I am now aware I should pay more attention to my email however I do not want to pay this $5 fine. Please help.

If you wish to dispute a fine, you can complete and submit the library fines appeal form. Patrons will usually receive a response within 7-10 days.
